About Palace on Wheels

With a khidmatgars (attendants) at your service round the clock, palace-like royalty, a variety of delicious Indian dishes, royal interiors and an amazing range of tourist destinations to cover, Palace on Wheels gives a unique and life-time experience to its passengers. It was voted as the 4th luxurious train of the world in 2010. Later in August 2009, the luxury train was revamped, retaining its old world charm. It offers 7 nights/8 days of a royal journey covering amazing tourist destinations of North India - Jaipur (the Pink city), Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Ranthambore National Park, Chittorgarh, Udaipur (the city of Lakes), the Bharatpur bird sanctuary and the symbol of love and romance, Agra, before returning to Delhi, the capital of India.

It was introduced in the year 1982 by the Indian Railways in association with Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation. The concept of the Palace on wheels was inspired by the royal background of the coaches that were originally meant to be the personal railway coaches of former rulers of the princely states of Rajasthan and Gujarat, the Nizam of Hyderabad.

Beautifully reflecting the spirit of Atithi Devo Bhava (Guests are like God); Palace on Wheels is the perfect option for you to explore and experience the rich cultural heritage and royalty of the kings of India.
