What is the Fare of Palace on Wheels Train?

If we wish to experience the Palace on Wheels means, the first thing have to know is its ticket price. Ticket prices will be different according to your selection of the cabin. On Palace on Wheels, there will be two options for accommodation which are Single Occupancy and Double Occupancy with same and equal facilities and amenities.

The ticket prices of the Palace on Wheels are different from seasons. India has a very harsh summer climate in between months of May to August. Due to the reason, the train doesn’t take tour during this time. That’s why before and after the summer season means (April and September) are the lean season for tourism in India. And the winter season, from October to March is the peak season for tourism. Due to the reason, ticket prices of lean season are costlier that peak season.

Price Related Information of Palace on Wheels

  • The cost of the pricing stated above is for 2019 – 2020. The prices tend to change from year to year.
  • The cost of the ticket during special events like New Year’s Day, Christmas and others would carry an additional surcharge of 10%.
  • The authorities have the rights to change the tariff as and when they feel right. Once the ticket is booked, the rate of the booked ticket will not change.
  • Goods & Service Tax (GST) will be charged as per the government rule.

Booking and Cancellation Policies

  • 20% of the ticket cost should be paid during the time of booking. Remaining should be paid at least 60 days in prior to the departure date.
  • Tickets can be cancelled when needed but, it cannot be transferred from one person to another.
  • Any ticket that is cancelled before 3 months from the departure date would attract 5% cancellation fee.
  • 80% of the ticket cost would be refunded for the tickets cancelled between 30-89 days from the departure date.
  • No refund would be entertained for tickets that are cancelled within 29 days from departure.
  • In case of not showing up on-time during departure or tourists being restricted to board due to lack of documents or other legal problems, refund would not be entertained.
  • In case of de-boarding the train or cancelling the tour in the middle by the guest due to any reason, refund would not be provided.
  • In case of group tours, 90% of the ticket cost would be refunded if the tickets were cancelled at least 90 days in prior to the departure date. Else, no refund would be entertained.
  • Due to any natural calamities or other problems, if the train trip is cancelled by Palace on Wheels, the whole tariff would be refunded. The same would be communicated at least 30 days in prior to the departure date.

Child Ticket

  • Any child below the age of five will be charged 10% of the tariff and would have to share a bed with the parent. Age proof of the child is essential.
  • For children between 5 and 12, 50% of the ticket cost would be charged and children above the age of 12 would be considered as adults.

  • Video camera charges

  • Departure and arrival flight cost and other modes of transportation’s used before and after the trip

Mode of Payment Accepted

The official site accepted all major international and Indian credit cards. Top credit cards accepted are Master, Visa, American Express, Discover Cards and others.

NRIs will not be considered as foreigners and have to pay the tariff in equivalent INR. Once inside the train, day-to-day expenses that are not included in the tariff should be paid either in cash or through cards. There are authorized ATM’s in top cities during your travel to exchange or withdraw money.
