
New Delhi/Jaipur, September 2025 – The world-famous Palace on Wheels luxury train started its first journey of the 2025 season on Wednesday with a royal flag-off ceremony at Delhi’s Safdarjung railway station. Around 40 international guests boarded the train, including nearly 30 tourists from the United States, while others came from different parts of the globe.
The train was flagged off by Rukmini Riar, Commissioner of Tourism, Rajasthan and Managing Director of the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC). Addressing on the occasion, she stated, "The Palace on Wheels is not a train, it is a brand which has marked Rajasthan and India's heritage on the global map. The luxury train is our gem, and every season we host tourists from all over the world to taste royal India on wheels."
Since it was first launched in 1982, Palace on Wheels train has become one of India's most iconic luxury tourism names. Derived from the personal coaches of Maharajas and Viceroys, the train has consistently provided its visitors with a taste of India's royal legacy.
Today, the Palace on Wheels marries royal heritage with modern comfort. Each of its carriages is embellished with royal interiors, hand-carved wooden furniture, and inspirations from Rajasthan's princely states. Yet, the guests have access to all facilities of modernity such as Wi-Fi, digital concierge service, spa facilities, air-conditioned accommodations, high-end bathrooms, and high-end dining restaurants.
