Gadisar Lake, Jaisalmer – What to Know Before You Go
Gadisar Lake is located in the beautiful city of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. The lake is well known for the culture and heritage of Rajasthan. The first Maharaja of this Jaisalmer, Raja Rawal Jaisal artificially built this lake as a water conservation reservoir which helps to solve major water problems. The lake is surrounded by many Ghats and temple shrines.
Gadisar Lake gets water from Indira Gandi canal. Krishna Temple with a statue of Lord Vishnu is the most popular temple near Gadisar Lake. Tilon-Ki-pol is an artistically carved yellow sandstone which is the entrance to the Gadisar Lake. Different species of birds will migrate from distinct places which is the major attraction to the lake.

1. Karan Desert Safari
With an amazing view of stars and milky way, Karan Desert Safari organizes a non-tourists camel safari. It provides you with the real experience of Desert Safari which makes you enjoy the adventures safari over the sand dunes.
2. Tilon Ki Pol
Tilon Ki Pol is the place for photography and boating in traditional dresses of Rajasthan. You can go shopping to purchase desert items. You can see beautiful Jharokha built at this gate with excellent traditional handwork.

3. Desert Culture Center & Museum
N. K, Sharma created this museum on his own for the tourists to enjoy in Jaisalmer. A puppet show will be held at 6:30 pm every day. Mostly young kids will have an appetite to enjoy this show. It is very near to Gadisar Lake and the show will be held by talented puppeteers.

Serene location and blissful peace, boat rides, History and Peace.
There will be no entrance fees but they will charge you for boat rides. It will cost around Rs. 10, Rs. 50 and Rs.100 for a raw boat, paddle boat and Shikara boat respectively. The boat ride will nearly take 30 minutes.
At any time one can visit this place but the boat ride will start from 8 AM and ends by 8 PM. It will take 1-2 hours to visit this place.

Best Time to Visit
October to March is the best time to visit this place. During the winter season, many amazing birds are here that everyone falls in love with them. Scorching hear of the desert will be avoided and the lake also looks beautiful during the winter season.

How to Reach
Gadisar Lake is just 2 km away from the railway station which is easily accessible. One can go by walk from Jaisalmer Fort and who is not close to the fort can hire auto-rickshaws or rickshaws for reaching Gadisar Lake. If you are looking for a luxurious ride than you can choose the India’s Palace on Wheels. On Day 5, the train will reach the Jaisalmer by 9:00 AM in the morning.
